The NSW State Sponsor (Subclass 190)
Inclusion of Onshore Applicants in the Program
To be eligible, you must be a current resident of New South Wales (NSW) and either:
- OR, I have lived in NSW for the past three months with all seriousness and without interruption.
- be working at least 20 hours a week in your chosen (or closely similar) employment in New South Wales for at least two years.
- For several ANZSCO unit groupings, you must now have three years of work experience in your specified (or closely related) vocation. A tick () next to the word ‘Experience’ signifies the existence of this particular subset of units.
Inclusion of Offshore Applicants in the Program
You must be one of the following people:
- Have been living offshore for the last three months without interruption, and
- A position in an ANZSCO unit group that admits offshore applicants has a valid skills assessment — on our NSW skilled occupation listings page, these unit groups are recognized with a check () under the ‘Offshore’ column
- For several ANZSCO unit groupings, you must now have three years of work experience in your specified (or closely related) vocation. A tick () next to the word ‘Experience’ signifies the existence of this particular subset of units.
Migration to and from the New South Wales region (Subclass 491)
To be eligible to apply for nomination in New South Wales, you must fulfil all of the following three requirements.
Stream 1: Working and living in rural New South Wales
Stream 2: Just finished school in remote New South Wales.
Stream 3: Skills in a regionally relevant occupation are necessary
Stream 1: Regional NSW life and work
Under this stream, you must meet the following requirements:
- Possess a valid evaluation of skills for a job on the Stream 1 combined job list.
- A minimum of 20 hours per week of employment in a specified regional area of NSW for the previous 12 months in your selected (or closely related) vocation.
Stream 2: NSW recently conducted a study that
Under this stream, you must meet the following requirements:
- Relevant skills certifications are required to be eligible for certain employment in your selected area.
- Where have you studied in the last 24 months?
- Studying in Regional NSW qualifies you for ‘study in regional Australia’ points, and
- An assessment authority determines that your qualification is closely connected to the job for which you applied.
Stream 3: In Regional NSW Skilled Occupation is required
- Relevant skills certifications are required to be eligible for certain employment in your selected area.
- You are eligible to apply regardless of where you live in Australia.
- On January 1, 2022, the application submission period will be open.
