Work part-time to fulfil your PR state sponsor qualifying conditions

South Australia, Canberra

South Australia, Canberra

Through a Part-Time Work Stream, you can apply for PR

State and regional sponsors often need full-time work experience in a certain job stream across many states in order to apply for PR. South Australia and Canberra are the only two exceptions to this rule.

If you already have a visa that does not allow you to work full-time and desire to apply for permanent residence through a state or regional sponsor, these states might be an excellent choice for you.

South Australia

In South Australia, you may be eligible for the PR path if you work part-time in the Living in SA stream.

To be eligible for a job in South Australia, you must work at least 20 hours a week or 40 hours a fortnight in your specified or closely related field.

To be eligible for 491 nominations, you should have worked in South Australia for the last six months, unless your occupation specifies otherwise.

To be eligible for 190 nominations, you should have worked in South Australia for the last 12 months, unless your occupation specifies otherwise.

If you have a good skills assessment in your selected occupation and are employed and live in regional South Australia for a specific term, you may be able to petition for exemption and work anywhere in the state.

Canberra

  • Almost every week in Canberra, you’ll be able to choose from a variety of job opportunities. From 65 points on, invitations began to be sent out.
  • If you work at least 20 hours per week for Subclass 491, you may be eligible for the PR track.
  • The ACT Matrix, rather than the traditional Skilled Migration points system, is used in Canberra.
  • In order to apply, you don’t necessarily need to be working in the job you’ve indicated as your primary occupation.
  • If you have a partner, the ACT Matrix may be easier to use since it may give you more points.
  • Up to 10 points may be earned by taking a one-year course (beginning at $6,000) in Canberra, and up to 20 points by doing a two-year programme in Canberra.
